For F.P. Journe’s fifth time taking part in the biennial Only Watch, the independent horologer will be presenting the Chronomètre Furtif Bleu, an exclusive and unique one-off reference dedicated to the event.

For the first time, F.P. Journe crafts a reference that’s attired in both a 42mm tantalum case and bracelet. Tantalum is a rare and precious metal that boasts a natural dark gray color, bestowed with a unique blue undertone. The dial arrives in a translucent Grand Feu enamel, accompanied by Arabic numbers laser-engraved in a tonal hue, and a matte finish. This characteristic is also reflected in the time-teller’s name, which described the difficulty of reading time on the occasion that the piece is not directly facing the wear.

Aligning with the overall frosted aesthetic and dark color aesthetic, the hour and minute hands also come in a matte blue. Meanwhile, the seconds hand offers a juxtaposing effect with its ultra-fine silhouette and bright orange color. The 18k rose gold 1511 caliber is clearly displayed via the watch’s open caseback, encircled with engravings that indicate its unique production. On closer inspection, its power reserve and moon phase indicator are stealthily implemented on this side of the piece, and reserved for the enjoyment of its owner.

F.P. Journe’s Chronomètre Furtif Bleu is expected to fetch between 200,000 – 400,000 CHF (approximately $223,529 – $333,837 USD) at this year’s Only Watch, which will be taking place on November 5 in Geneva, Switzerland.
